He was born on August 3, 1942 in Chicago, IL. The son of Jane (Bielinski) and Vincent Jankowski Jr. Leon was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. On August 4, 1962 he married the love of his life, Carol (Sterczek) at St. Viator Church in Chicago, IL. Together they shared 61 years of marriage and raised 3 children, and were also blessed with 3 grandchildren. Leon worked for 30 years as a Truck driver. His work ethic and commitment to the community extended into his 7 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Algonquin. Leon enjoyed hockey and he coached for many years. He loved animals and had many pets throughout his life. His horses especially held a special place in his heart. He loved to ride and care for them for as long as he was
