Gene Colan Evans Born: July 15, 1930 in Faulkner County, AR Died: November 9, 2024 in Poplar Grove, IL Gene Colan Evans, 94, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on July 15, 1930, in Faulkner County, Arkansas, the son of W. Floyd and Letha (Sharp) Evans. Gene served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Gene married Joan Haydam April 11, 1959, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Volo, IL. He drove cement trucks and was the plant operator for Enterprise Ready Mix. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere and was a member of the Teamsters Local 301. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with his wife Joan and enjoyed winters with her in Everglades City, Florida. Gene was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his puzzles and coloring books.
